Bonsall celebrates Students of the Month for December

Fifth-graders Sarah Williams of Bonsall Elementary and Samantha Cartmill of Bonsall West Elementary, fourth-grader Dania Harvey of Vivian Banks Charter and sixth-grader Mirna Monreal of Sullivan Middle School were lauded as the December Students of the Month for the Bonsall Union School District.

The honors were presented at the December 11 meeting of the Board of Trustees at Bonsall West Elementary School.

The awards were presented by each of the students’ principals. Representatives from the offices of Kevin Jeffries, Darrel Issa and Barbara Boxer attended, along with members of the Bonsall Woman’s Club and Bonsall Chamber of Commerce.

Teacher Mrs. Hines recommended Sarah Williams for Student of the Month.

“Sarah is a conscientious, self-motivated honor student who will go far. She is well liked and an exemplary role model. Her self-confidence and work habits set the mold for other students,” said Bill Rash, principal.

Williams’ parents and brother were there to celebrate her achievement.

Bonsall West Elementary student Samantha Cartmill was recognized by her teacher, Mr. Stark, for being a caring, quiet, responsible student with excellent work ethnics.

“Samantha is a wonderful girl and a pleasure to have in class,” said Stark.

Cartmill’s family was on hand for the presentation.

Dania Harvey from Vivian Banks Charter School received high praise when presented with her Student of the Month award.

“Dania’s character traits for a fourth grade student are exceptional; she excels in all areas. She is kind, honest, respectful, caring and a good citizen who is always there to help others,” related Ms. Wilson. “She is an excellent role model for other students.”

Members of the Harvey family proudly watched as Dania received her certificates for being selected Student of the Month.

Mirna Monreal from Sullivan Middle School was surprised when she was nominated for Student of the Month.

In a letter from her teacher, Mrs. Greg, Monreal was recognized for being a phenomenal student who is caring, generous and looks out for others. She excels in all areas and sets the standard on every project.

Monreal was also said to have enthusiasm for school and life and “is a pleasure to have in class.”

Monreal’s family was on hand to share in her accomplishment.
