White House practices 'plausible deniability'

In his “staged” news conference on December 4, George Bush again utilized the old White House tactic of “plausible deniability.”

When asked when he knew of the intelligence community’s latest finding that Iran had no nuclear weapons program since 2003, his response was something like this: “I’d heard that such a report existed since as early as August 2007 but didn’t get the ‘official briefing’ until just a week ago.” Ergo, “plausible deniability!”

This White House – particularly Cheney and Karl Rove – are masters of this deceitful practice (i.e., you can’t be accused of wrongdoing if the subject is not on the official record).

What a dishonest crew! Do we really have to put up with them for another 12 months?

As an old-time GOP member, these people make me feel so ashamed!
