Big Band & Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra at Avo

VISTA — The Big Band & Jazz Hall of Fame Orchestra will take the stage of Vista’s Avo Playhouse on Sunday, January 20, for a 2 p.m. matinee performance of “Our Love is Here to Stay.”

The pre-Valentine’s Day concert of favorite love songs – big band-style – will feature guest vocalist and emcee Dave Scott, noted KUSI-TV personality. Vocalists Barbara Roman and Jan Sutherland round out the program.

The performance will celebrate the 17-piece orchestra’s debut at the Avo and will also mark one of the rare occasions they will perform a winter season concert for the public.

“Most winters we do private holiday parties and galas,” said Roman, who is also the orchestra’s concert promoter. “We chose the Avo for this concert due to our longtime association with Vista’s Moonlight Amphitheatre, where we have been presenting our Summer Jazz concert series since 2004. A matinee performance is ideal for our senior fans who often prefer not to venture out at night.”

The Avo Playhouse is located at 303 Main Street in Vista. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors, military and students and $15 for children under 12.
