Teen helps fire victims at Christmas

FALLBROOK — Sixteen-year-old Ashley LeBlanc, a high school student in Riverside County, had a keen desire to help the victims of the recent firestorm in Fallbrook, especially those at Valley Oaks Mobile Home Park.

When LeBlanc realized some families might not be able to celebrate the holiday season in their usual manner, she became a modern day Santa Claus.

A Girl Scout since her early youth, LeBlanc earned the Gold Award (equivalent to the Eagle Scout designation in the Boy Scouts) for her endeavor.

The 300 toys secured for the cause were donated by LeBlanc’s fellow students, teachers, friends and even strangers.

LeBlanc delivered the toys on Friday, December 21, to the care of Art Blodgett of the Fallbrook Ministerial Association, who coordinated the distribution of the gifts at Fallbrook Presbyterian Church.
