Board members responsible to taxpayers

Reference the articles in the Village News by Sarah Bates and Debbie Ramsey titled “Fallbrook falls in with union’s state plan” (12/20/07). All voters should read these two articles that provide a lot of facts regarding school boards.

I have, for years, served on boards and I am still on boards. I take seriously my fiduciary responsibilities in making decisions affecting agencies, people and taxpayers in particular.

The number one role of school boards should be to provide the best education possible for our youth. As a board member, we need to give full consideration to the cost of our decisions to the taxpayer. There should be consequences for decisions made in conflict of interest on any board.
