Beverly Jean Burks

Beverly Jean Burks, 74, a longtime Fallbrook resident, went to be with the Lord on December 18, 2007.

Beverly was a loving wife and mother as well as a friend to hundreds of former and current employees of Fallbrook Union High School. She served as the administrative assistant to the superintendent for many years prior to her retirement.

Anyone who knew Beverly experienced her love, help and encouragement, especially her family. She and her husband of more than 30 years, Curtis W. Burks, loved to visit friends and family whenever they could with camping trips to the local beaches, visits to South America, Alaska and other places throughout the United States.

Beverly’s parents, Earl and Marion Johnson, moved the family from Illinois to Fallbrook in the early 1940s. She graduated from the old Fallbrook High School site in 1951.

Warmth and caring for the many employees of the Fallbrook High School District over the years might be considered one of her greatest achievements and gifts to the Fallbrook community.

Beverly is survived by her husband Curtis; sons Stephen and Charles Kettering and their wives Tilly and Marjorie; granddaughters Claire (and husband Dave Takahashi), Paola, Hanna, Emily, Kiah and Sara; stepdaughter Becky Lacome, Harpers Ferry, WV, and stepson Dana Burks, Boston, MA, and their spouses Michael and Lauri; sisters Barbara Kruis, Fallbrook, and Suzanne Chace, Coronado, CA; and brother and David Johnson, Coronado.

Beverly will be sorely missed by her family and all who knew her. She was a special blessing to all.

A memorial service was held December 22 at Riverview Evangelical Free Church in Bonsall, CA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to: Sandra Brown IBO Sarah Carter, Wells Fargo Bank, 41232 Murrieta Hot Springs Rd., Murrieta, CA 92562.
