Marilyn Eva Hinman

Marilyn Eva Hinman, loving mother and stepmother, was born on October 4, 1936, and walked into the arms of Jesus on December 27, 2007, surrounded by her children.

Marilyn was born in Salt Lake City, UT, to June and Bessie Isbell. In 1950 Marilyn and her family moved to Palm Springs, where she met her dear friend and future sister-in-law Bette Robertson Schmidt. Marilyn attended Palm Springs High School, where she was a vivacious and popular student. She had a lifelong love of music, singing in various choirs in church and school. Marilyn passed this fondness for music on to her children and grandchildren. She went on to have a successful career at Vons for more than 25 years before retiring.

Marilyn moved to Bonsall to be close to her daughters and grandchildren in 2004. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and watching the horses train from her balcony. Marilyn also loved playing games of all kinds, reading and traveling. The sparkle in Marilyn’s eyes and her unique personality were best shown in her love for things that sparkle, from crystal to diamonds.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Rouse Hinman, her parents and her lifelong best friend Marcy Buresh. She is survived by children Michael and Jenny Robertson, Aliso Viejo, CA, Marcie and Douglas Ellithorpe, Bonsall, CA, and Karen and Greg Hardin, Escondido, CA; stepchildren Lee Hinman, Redondo Beach, CA, Glen Hinman, Whittier, CA, Eric and Kristi Ervin, West Covina, CA, and Larry and Jean Hinman, San Pedro, CA; grandchildren Leigha, Sarah, Nathan, Gabriel, Rebecca, Joshua, John and Sarah; brother Marvin and Gail Isbell; nieces Darlene Leininger, Marsha Starrick and Nancy Horn and nephew Jim Isbell and their children; and cherished friends Chuck Buresh, Rick and Kathy Buresh and Chuck Buresh Jr.

Marilyn had many longstanding friends too numerous to list, but her family wants to thank them all for their friendship and loyalty throughout the years.

A memorial service will be held in celebration of Marilyn’s life at noon on January 11, at the Escondido Christian Center at 927 Idaho Avenue in Escondido.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations can be made to Youth Camp Scholarship Fund in the name of Marilyn Hinman. Make checks payable to Escondido Christian Center.
