Italian saxophone quartet to perform Jan. 20

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society is proud to present the second concert of its Virtuoso Series, the internationally recognized Italian Saxophone Quartet, which makes a rare Southern California appearance on Sunday, January 20.

This unique quartet from Italy is acclaimed by critics worldwide as one of the most outstanding ensembles on the international music scene. Four of the most established soloists in their field blend their saxophones to produce a unique fusion of awe-inspiring sound. The musicians are all masters of their craft and are equally at home in either classical or jazz idioms.

The Quartet, which has been working together since 1982, will showcase their artistry with an incredible range of musical genres from the classics (Bach, Scarlatti and Mozart, for example) to music by Joplin, Gershwin and Cole Porter.

“This concert will offer the audience a wide range of musical experiences and exhilarating compositions,” says Brenda Montiel, president of the Music Society. “This dynamic program will definitely have something for everyone to enjoy.”

The Quartet has performed more than 400 concerts in major concert halls worldwide and has received special recognition for interpretations of contemporary music. They have won several major music competitions of national repute, are frequently broadcast on radio and have produced several CDs.

The concert will be held at 3 p.m. in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts. Tickets are $37 adult, $10 student, and can be purchased at (760) 451-8644 or http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
