Griener earns doctoral degree

CINCINNATI — Dr. Sharon Griener of Fallbrook recently earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in interdisciplinary studies with a concentration in arts and sciences with a specialization in American studies: multicultural education from Union Institute & University, an accredited university since 1964 offering interdisciplinary plans of study for adult learners.

Dr. Griener developed and teaches the American Sign Language program at Fallbrook High School. She plans to introduce a survey of cultures program to the school while she expands her teaching to the university level. She will also continue writing the oral histories of the people of America.

She is an active member of the American Anthropological Association, American Folklore Society, California Teachers Association, American Studies Association and the Oral History Association. She is married and has two daughters.
