Ivy High students learn by giving

FALLBROOK — During the month of December, the students at Ivy High School collected food and money for a local family of seven they adopted through the Fallbrook Food Pantry. Not only did the family get the fixings for a holiday dinner, but the five children in the family each received gifts as well.

Flyers were put up around the school; word was out to donate extra change. Students were encouraged to do without that bag of chips or drink from the vending machine for a day and donate the money toward their adopted family.

After the food and money were collected, gifts were bought, wrapped and delivered to the family on December 20. It was a great way to show the kids how every little bit adds up and helps out.

Ivy students are no strangers to helping out their local community. In November, they collected more than 300 food items in their first period classes and donated them to the Fallbrook Food Pantry.
