Course offered for tax professionals, attorneys

BONSALL — Kent Borsch, an Edward Jones financial advisor, will host a broadcast course for CPAs, tax professionals and attorneys titled “Retirement Savings Vehicles for Business Owners” from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on January 23 at 5256 South Mission Road, Suite 807, in the River Village shopping center.

The program is designed to discuss the opportunities business owners have to save more money by using the available IRA and retirement account options.

Topics covered during this panel discussion include:

• IRAs and Roth IRAs: best-practice use

• 401(k) plans, including single-owner 401(k) plans

• Roth 401(k) plans

• Defined-benefit plans and age-based plans

• Rollovers: what they are and how they can be used to a taxpayer’s advantage

• Required minimum distributions: maximizing the benefit and minimizing the taxable income

• SEPs, SIMPLEs, HSAs and other retirement savings opportunities

This course is approved for three credit hours of continuing professional education for CPAs and tax professionals. State accreditation varies for attorneys.
