President, military have accomplished daunting goals

The war in Iraq and Afghanistan is not a war against a country. It’s a war against an ideology whose stated goal is world domination. The enemy’s strength is in its determination and its knowledge of how our freedoms can be used to weaken our resolve.

Here are the facts:

The enemy attacked us first – killing more than 2,000 noncombatants in a surprise attack.

As a result of our response to that attack:

• the enemy is weaker,

• Iran paused its nuclear weapons program,

• Libya abandoned its nuclear weapons program,

• most Middle Eastern governments (who are rightfully afraid of radical elements in the region) are cooperating with the US more than before,

• we have not had an attack on American soil since 9/11/01 – six years,

• a murderous despot, who tortured and killed his own people while supporting international terrorism, has been eliminated,

• a nation of 25,000,000 people has tasted freedom for the first time in generations – something those who haven’t experienced tyranny can’t fully appreciate,

• we have gained the confidence of the people of Iraq (despite the best efforts of the enemy), turning the tide in the war in Iraq,

• we continue to achieve the political goals of the surge (9/18 to date), at an accelerating rate, and

• some American and world citizens have revealed, by their condemnation of America’s leadership in the effort to confront and defeat evil, that they believe being accepted and liked by others has more value than doing the right thing.

Our president and our military have accomplished daunting goals in a relatively short period of history. Their resolve has been tested by the media, Hollywood and members of the Democrat party who have aggressively and continuously attempted to discourage, undermine and slander their efforts because they feel war is wrong.

In the perspective of future generations the courage of President Bush and the US military will be accorded the highest honor and gratitude. More of us should be doing that now – based on the facts.
