AAUW offers meeting on juvenile delinquent behavior

Last updated 1/31/2008 at Noon

The Fallbrook Branch of the American Association of University Women offers a general meeting open to the public on the topic of “at-risk” juvenile delinquent behavior.

Presenting will be Priscilla Steiner, founder and executive director of the nonprofit From The Inside Out, Inc. (FTIO) Steiner has for the past 16 years worked in the social sector with children ages 10 and older who are considered to be “at-risk.”

FTIO began as a grassroots organization and today is a viable youth and family agency whose main goal is to offer positive solutions to juvenile delinquent behavior.

In partnership with Donavan Correctional facility, it hosts CROP (Convicts Reaching Out to People) as an ongoing visitation program in which felons speak to youth and parents about the consequences of making poor choices.

Steiner will give descriptions of the programs offered to parents and youth, all with the purpose of infusing youth with the new ways of thinking, processing and dealing with the struggles of life without resorting to violence.

The meeting will take place Saturday, February 9, at 10 a.m. at Regency Fallbrook, 609 East Elder Street.

Refreshments will be served and the community is welcome. For more information, call Emma Urueta-Ruiz at (760) 731-0925.
