Orchestra features accomplished trumpet soloist

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society once again welcomes a North County favorite, the Redlands Symphony Orchestra, featuring classical and jazz trumpeter David Scott, on Sunday, February 3.

Conductor Jon Robertson will lead the orchestra in three dynamic selections, including Henri Tomasi’s Trumpet Concerto with Dr. Scott as soloist.

A virtuoso trumpet player of high caliber, Scott has toured extensively with the Glenn Miller Orchestra and the Americus Brass Band. He has recorded three historically authentic albums and may also be heard (and seen) on various recordings and films.

He has performed under such noted conductors as Andre Previn and Michael Tilson-Thomas and, as an active chamber musician, is leader of the Desert Winds Brass and Brazzmatazz, a brass quintet that entertained audiences at Disneyland.

Also on the program are Weber’s Overture to der Freischütz and Schumann’s Symphony No. 3 “Rhenish.”

This unique symphony performance will take place at 3 p.m. At 2 p.m., conductor Robertson will give a preview of the upcoming concert, which is open to all ticket holders.

The concert will be held at the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, 2400 South Stage Coach Lane. Tickets are $37 adult, $10 student and can be purchased by calling (760) 451-8644 or visiting http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
