New semester, new officers, new activities

Fallbrook High School has started their new year with new officers, a dance and Breaking Down the Walls.

The semester began with the announcement of Derek Majewski as ASB president, Christine Talavera as vice president, Katie Neal as secretary and Katie Moynihan as treasurer.

These main officers were elected during December and will serve for the 2008 year. Their job will be to plan bigger and better events for the high school and try to encourage all students to become involved in the activities and events making their year memorable.

On January 12 the sophomore class hosted the Winter Formal dance at the NCO Club on Camp Pendleton. The attendees had a blast.

This last week the school held its annual Breaking Down the Walls activities.

The week kicked off with an assembly during which Phil Boyte spoke to all of the students about how every detail counts in life and every person in the world has a story to tell if we were just willing to listen.

The next three days of the week, students who were nominated or signed up attended workshops with an emphasis on team building. The wide range of ethnic groups which attend these workshops learned about how to break down walls in their lives as well as learn that they need to give every person in this world a chance.

There are many activities coming up in ASB. Some of them include the Festival of Culture Assembly on February 8 and a blood drive on February 13.

The next dance, the Sadie Hawkins dance, will be on March 15. Further details will be available at a later time.
