Our faith matters

I am grateful for the invitation to write to you in this “Faith Matters” section of our Village News.

I first want to express greetings to all who may know me and then introduce myself to those who may not. My name is Art Blodgett, and I have served as a pastor at the Community Baptist Church since 1993.

I present the following thoughts and information to you because I not only believe that our faith matters but I also believe that it should make a difference.

As I write this day, I am first reminded that January 22 marked the three-month anniversary of the Rice Canyon Fire.

Although so much has been done by so many to help us recover from this disaster, many in Fallbrook and throughout our county remain profoundly aware that there is still much to do.

To those hurt in any way by the Rice Canyon Fire, we want you to know that our thoughts, support and prayers remain with you. Also, know that many continue to stand by with resources and services to help in your long-term recovery.

We also want you to know that in an effort to help coordinate our community’s long-term recovery efforts, a Fallbrook Fire Recovery Center (FFRC) has been established and staffed at 325 East Mission Road.

Since I have agreed to help coordinate the operations of the center, I would like to invite both those who wish to provide resources or services and those with fire recovery needs to call the FFRC at 451-FIRE or visit the center’s Web site at http://www.fallbrookdisasterrecovery.org.

The mailing address for the FFRC is 337 E. Mission Rd., Fallbrook, CA 92028.

The FFRC will be open to the public Tuesday and Wednesday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Other times and days can be arranged by appointment.

In closing, I would like to personally applaud the selfless efforts of our North County CERT who, under the direction and leadership of Mike Crain, proved essential in securing the grant that has allowed us to fund the establishment and operation of the Fallbrook Fire Recovery Center.

Yours very respectfully in Christ.
