Legacy associates deserve praise

I would like to praise the efforts of four people in Legacy Endowment…The Community Foundation for their extraordinary efforts during, and after, the firestorm disaster.

Tina Rainey, our executive director, and Elizabeth Crittendon, assistant executive director, have spent countless hours working on phone calls, spreadsheets of affected families, making interview appointments and distributing funds (raised by our generous community) to the fire victims. They have had to deal with a totally unexpected range of activities and a geometric increase in knowledge.

Karen Estes is a relatively new board member and someone who has made effective participation a priority. Without Karen’s insurance expertise and input, Legacy’s ability to deal with the “Fallbrook: After the Ashes” fundraiser would have failed.

Phil Delaney, the consummate “talk quietly and carry a big stick” altruist. My guess is that Phil has spent all of his time and efforts on our community’s fire victims since the beginning of the Rice Fire. We never know all that he does, or has done, because he shuns the limelight. I believe that his role and commitment as our president is invaluable.

This catastrophe has produced many heroes, but these are ours.

Roy Ansell

Vice President,

Legacy Endowment
