Liberty Quarry a great concern

“I am mad as hell and I can’t take it anymore!” This familiar phrase sums up the feelings most residents have regarding the proposed rock quarry project that will encroach on our daily lives if allowed to come in. The effects this business will create can be catastrophic!

I am making reference to the proposed Granite Construction rock quarry called “Liberty.” That name does not imply “liberty” as we know it (state of being free, immunity, etc.) It means taking the “liberty” to put the rock quarry in an area that is arguably in the wrong place!

If you attended the meeting at FPUD Friday night (February 1), you would have learned lots of information against this project and for very important reasons, none of which are good!

Health (lung and asthma ailments), noise (blasting), air pollution (harmful particulate matter in the air), traffic (several trucks coming and going daily), environmental (disrupting wildlife habitats, possible pollution of the Santa Margarita River) and agriculture (dust matter falling on foliage, affecting crop production). All this in the name of Liberty!

We as a community need to stand strong in opposing this project! It will only bring us trouble!

Its location would border the Riverside/San Diego county line and the effects will impact all of us from Temecula, Rainbow and Fallbrook! We are all in this together!

Please be concerned and take time to become informed about the dangers and effects of this rock quarry and its location. It’s just too close for our comfort!

It’s important to contact Representatives Bill Horn and Darrell Issa (by the way, they “approve” of it) and let them know we don’t want this kind of operation so close to us! All this is just a matter of “politics” as usual! Go to http://www.SOS-Hills.org.
