Daphne Marie Gomez

Daphne Marie Gomez, daughter of Margarito and Monica Gomez of Fallbrook, joined the cherubs in Heaven Wednesday, February 6, 2008, at Children’s Hospital in San Diego, due to cardiac arrest.

Daphne passed away just five days before her first birthday. She was born on February 11, 2007, at Palomar Hospital in Escondido. She was their first child and though she came into this world with burdens to bear, she struggled and thrived in spite of all that she faced.

She was a joy to all who came to know her and was beloved by her family, their friends and loved ones. She touched the lives of so many, including the medical staffs of Palomar, Kaiser and Children’s Hospital, to mention but a few.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Jose Mejia, in 1998 and her paternal grandfather, Marcelo Gomez, in 2000. She is survived by parents Margarito and Monica Gomez; maternal great-grandmother Teresa Lopez and grandmother Maria de la Luz Garcia, both of Mexticacan, Mexico, paternal grandmother Ricarda Gomez of Fallbrook; and three uncles, nine aunts and 33 cousins both here and in Mexico.

A viewing is scheduled for Friday, February 15, from 4 to 8 p.m. and a rosary will be said at 6 p.m. in the chapel at Berry-Bell & Hall Mortuary in Fallbrook.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, February 16, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Fallbrook with a religious graveside service to follow at the Masonic Cemetery in Fallbrook.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in Daphne’s name to Rady Children’s Hospital in San Diego.
