'CSI' San Diego-style

San Diego Police Department DNA criminalist Tami Ballard will be the San Diego Archaeological Center’s March 8 Visiting Scholar.

Her presentation, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., will include an introduction to forensic biology (DNA), specifically fluids used in crime scene reconstruction and investigation.

The San Diego Police Department has a full-service crime laboratory which analyzes physical evidence collected at crime scenes. Laboratory workers trained in photography, latent print development, evidence collection and crime scene reconstruction participate in major scene investigations.

Analysis of physical evidence is usually undertaken for the purpose of identification or comparison of substances. Almost any object may become valuable evidence linking a suspect to a crime, victim or a scene.

This lecture is free for Center members; suggested donation for non-members is $5.
