Iraq historian, analyst to address Democrats

FALLBROOK — Dr. Farouk Al-Nasser, a native of Iraq and well known local speaker on Iraqi history and politics, will address the March 6 meeting of the Fallbrook Democratic Club at 7 p.m. at the Fallbrook Public Utility District board room, 990 East Mission Road.

As a concerned Iraqi native, he will share his personal and professional observations and conclusions about the region, including discussion of American’s past involvement with Iraq, the invasion, the occupation and the surge, the history of US foreign policy in the Middle East and the pitfalls of the Bush Administration justification for invading Iraq.

He will also address the question of whether the US Military Surge is achieving its objective as outlined by the Bush Administration, as seen from a perspective of the average person in the streets of Baghdad.
