Free irrigation workshop for agricultural users

A free workshop focusing on irrigation system efficiency and minimizing water use in the grove will be held Saturday, March 1, from 9 a.m. to noon at the Rancho Santa Fe Garden Club, 17025 Avenida de Acacias.

The workshop is geared toward agricultural water users impacted by the Interruptible Agricultural Water Program 30-percent mandatory water cutback that went into effect in January.

These customers voluntarily signed contracts to buy water at discounted rates in exchange for agreeing to be the first customers cut back before any residential or business customers are cut back, in a drought or emergency water situation.

Experts from Mission Resource Conservation District will teach workshop participants how to evaluate their own grove’s irrigation system and how to use this information to create, or recreate, an efficient irrigation schedule.

Participants will also learn the ABCs of emission uniformity, water pressure, micro sprinklers and many other factors that figure in to efficiently using every drop of water.

This workshop has limited seating. Call (760) 745-5522, ext. 217, to reserve a seat. This workshop is being hosted by the North County Water Agencies members.
