Angel Society donations continue

FALLBROOK — At their January meeting, the board of directors of the Angel Society voted to make contributions to the following nonprofit charities that serve their community and North County in a variety of ways.

A donation of $2,000 to North County Times Charities Fund will be increased by $1,200 matching funds from the McCormick Foundation.

Training Education Research Institute received $1,000 for repairs to their Fallbrook home for mentally challenged gentlemen.

“A Curriculum of Musical Experiences” will provide more than 6,000 students in the Fallbrook Unified Elementary School District with 70 classical music assemblies annually. $2,500 was awarded to the Fallbrook Music society for this program.

Art Campus of Fallbrook will use $2,000 for their children’s and youth arts education programs.

Fallbrook Union High School girls softball team and KOPA (Fallbrook High annual literary magazine) each received $500.

Casa de Amparo and Women’ Resource Center, dedicated to helping the abused women and children of North County, were supported by donations of $1,000 to each.

Mission Resource Conservation District, Fallbrook Garden Club and the Public Utility District are working together to create a garden in the Neighborhood Revitalization Area for low- and moderate-income areas, senior housing and elementary schools. They were given $500 to purchase needed supplies.

The Philanthropy Funds are taken from the proceeds of sales of items donated to the Angel Shop as well as dues from membership and cash donations received for this purpose.

Most recently the Angel Society was the recipient of a $1,000 donation from Fresh and Easy as a result of a vote of their employees to reward a nonprofit organization for outstanding contributions to the community.

There are many ways to support the Angel Society; one anonymous donor makes a quarterly donation through automatic deduction from his payroll through United Way.

For all the support received, the volunteer board of directors is truly grateful.
