CROP Walk returns March 9

On March 9, local residents will celebrate the 17th Annual CROP Hunger Walk. Last year, 445 people participated and almost $70,000 was raised.

The 5K walk, on a sunny day, will take less than 90 minutes.

Each participant who raises a minimum of $50 will receive a t-shirt. There will be music and food, a true celebration.

Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will go to the Fallbrook Food Pantry. The Pantry handed out 69,000 meals in 2007.

The other seventy-five percent of the funds raised go overseas to 80 countries, helping with emergencies, refugees, education and self sufficiency.

Church World Services have helped the needy since 1946.

To sign up and obtain a sponsor sheet, contact a local church or the Food Pantry at (760) 728-7608.

Registration starts at 1 p.m.; the walk begins at 1:30 from the Fallbrook Food Pantry at 1042 South Mission.
