Irish, African dancers to appear at library

FALLBROOK — Dancer Nikola Clay will appear at the Fallbrook Library on Tuesday, February 26, at 3:30 p.m. to present dances and music from the Guinea area of West Africa.

Clay is a longtime student of African dance and international folk dancing.

Participants will have the opportunity to play African rhythm instruments and learn the culture of West Africa through song, dance, proverbs and music making.

The program is part of the library’s observance of Black History Month.

On Saturday, March 1, at 2 p.m. students from the Bracken School of Irish Dance will present a variety of lively Irish dances. The dancers appear at fairs and festivals and other events, dancing jigs and reels in authentic Gaelic costumes.

The Bracken School was originally founded in Ireland in 1980.
