Oceanside wins back-to-back cribbage matches

On January 26, the Oceanside Senior Center Cribbage team triumphed over the Fallbrook peggers in the closest match of the 70-game series. Oceanside had one more win than Fallbrook with a point spread difference of just 17 points in the 41-player match.

Tom Bongard edged out Ted Moody for first place. Both players had six wins without a skunk but Bongard’s point spread was bigger. In third was Ann Flaherty with five wins and one skunk. The next five players Lilo Mendizza, Carl Troupe, Bill Metz and Tom Sugg, all with five wins and no skunks.

The $25 gift card donated by the Albertsons Store in Fallbrook was won by Oceanside’s Carol Riccitelli.

Matches are held on the fourth Thursday of each month and consist of seven games. The next match will be held February 28 at the Vista Elks Lodge, 1947 East Vista Way. The Lodge can be contacted by phone at (760) 724-1968.

Play begins at 12:30 p.m. All who enjoy cribbage are invited to join the fun. Those who would like lunch should arrive at 11:30 a.m.
