Green, Belgian Malinois earn distinguished title

Fallbrook resident David Greene and his 2-year-old Belgian Malinois, Luigi, placed in the top ten and earned a Schutzhund III Title at the Southwest Regional Championships.

The event was located in Arizona and hosted by the Phoenix Schutzhund Club February 8-10.

“I’m really proud of Luigi,” said Greene. “He is still such a young dog and showed so much talent over the weekend.”

Greene went on to say that his coach, Tom Riche, was highly instrumental in the training regimen. The support of his club, The So Cal Working Dog Association, was fantastic “and the support of my wife, Christina, has been really important to me.”

Schutzhund is a dog sport which involves three categories of testing: obedience, tracking and protection. These dogs are highly trained and socialized.

Greene claims that he and Luigi are gearing up for another competition in September: “We will be competing in the 2008 American Working Malinois Association National Championships in Olympia, WA.”
