One-third of deputies new to Fallbrook

The year 2008 has brought a lot of new faces to the Fallbrook law enforcement front.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Theresa Adams-Hydar says approximately one-third of the deputy force is comprised of officers newly assigned to the beat. In addition, three of the four patrol sergeants under Adams-Hydar are new promotions.

“I think this is a good thing for Fallbrook,” Adams-Hydar said. “They are tremendously motivated and bring with them some new solutions to address Fallbrook crime.”

Adams-Hydar said Fallbrook’s growing population equates into a greater need for law enforcement just due to the numbers.

“Fallbrook isn’t so ‘small town’ anymore,” she said. “We are just trying to step things up with community-oriented policing and be proactive rather than just reactive.”

The sergeant explained that the combination of newly assigned deputies and sergeants, combined with the depth and knowledge of the more seasoned Fallbrook deputies, is a winning combination.

“The old guys know every nook and cranny and have vast knowledge, so they can share that information with the new ones,” she said. “They are motivating each other.”
