We need a Trader Joe's

I agree with the letter by Bridget Canchola published in the Village News on February 14.

If the manager of the new Fresh & Easy store was quoted correctly, I’d say either he or his boss should first take another look at Fallbrook demographics and who are likely to become their customers. Then, I suggest a return to school for more marketing classes.

There are already many Latino food and beverage stores in Fallbrook. My opinion is that what others in Fallbrook, Bonsall and Rainbow want is something more like Trader Joe’s.

I was in Oceanside recently and stopped in. They thought that Fresh & Easy would be their main competition, but I disabused them of that notion. What makes Joe’s so appealing are the unusual products and varieties not available elsewhere: the ready-to-eat meals and dishes and the friendly, knowledgeable cashiers and shelf-stockers. They know where everything is and are easy and fun to talk to.

Have the manager of Fallbrook’s Fresh & Easy go to either Oceanside or Temecula and he is sure to see shoppers from Fallbrook there. They are Fresh & Easy’s potential customers.

Yes, the entire shopping center there at the new Fallbrook Fresh & Easy looks much better now, but the customer potential will soon dwindle if the present strategy continues. If it needs saying, why would I want to go there if they have nothing unique?
