Car Club donates to USO Center

The Fallbrook Vintage Car Club (FVCC) recently made a donation to the Airport USO Center, located at Lindbergh Field’s Terminal 2, which is the largest USO airport center in the world.

It offers a friendly place for Armed Forces members to wait for a flight, unwind and have a snack, check e-mail, watch television, get directions or transportation assistance to their duty station or other locations and get information on the area.

It is open 365 days a year from 8 a.m. until 11 p.m.

The Airport USO Center also offers a cyber canteen with Internet access, complimentary coffee and pastries every day.

USO San Diego is a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with a mission to enhance the quality of life for San Diego’s active-duty military and their families.

Through private donations, USO San Diego is able to provide programs and services, including free weekly homemade dinners, access to books, games and movies, computer labs, family events and ship homecomings.

For information on donating visit http://www.usosandiego.org.

The FVCC was formed about 50 years ago for the preservation and appreciation of vintage vehicles.

It supports local nonprofits with the proceeds from its annual car show, held this year on Sunday, May 25 (Memorial Day weekend).

This year, for the first time, the show will be held on the grounds of Potter Junior High School.

The club has a very active membership, meets monthly and welcomes anyone with an interest in the culture.

Vintage car ownership is not a criterion for membership, just an enjoyment of older cars.
