Leaders appreciated

Leaders from throughout San Diego County attended an appreciation brunch held Saturday, March 1, at the Bonsall Community Center.

Hosted by Fallbrook 4H and coordinated by Holly Rogers, the event was a great success. The leaders were treated to brunch, raffle prizes and other recognition for years of volunteer service to the organization.

Fallbrook’s own Jean Combs (39th year) and Jan Hilton (40th year) were the volunteers with the most years of service.

Thank you, Holly, for a job well done!

The livestock leaders attended a dinner meeting at the San Diego County Fair on March 3. This year’s fair, themed “Summer of Sports,” will run June 14-July 6 (closed on June 16 and 23).

Fallbrook 4H members have been choosing their animals to raise in preparation for the big event. Market Week will be June 29-July 6, with the auction on Friday, July 4.

The sheep group will be holding their annual Lamb Auction this Saturday, March 15, at 9:30 a.m. at the Ag Department.

The group uses the proceeds from this event to pay for shavings and other expenses from the fair. There will be baskets and garage sale items to bid on if you want to support this group. All are welcome to attend!

The reptile group will be having a behind-the-scenes tour of the reptile building at the San Diego Zoo on March 24. That should be an interesting opportunity for parents and members.

The next community meeting will be at 7 p.m. on April 1 at the Fallbrook cafeteria. The group will have a guest speaker on watershed management and plan Youth Fair and San Diego County Fair activities.
