Simple decision made difficult

Congratulations to the Bonsall and Vista school district leaders; they have a plan for starting classes this fall.

Unfortunately, the Fallbrook School District has not. In fact, the district office has stated they will not know until mid-April, blaming the board for delaying to put this on their meeting agenda!

This lack of planning by district leadership is a symptom of incompetence. While they delay a rather simple decision, students’, parents’ and teachers’ lives are negatively impacted by an inability to plan their own summer activities.

With the state cutting education budgets, perhaps the layoffs should be at the district office, not teachers, since a question as simple as “When does school start this fall?” cannot be answered within six months of that timeframe!
