Students excel at Rotary Club speech competition

FALLBROOK — Four Fallbrook High School students, selected from an original group of 24 candidates, presented their talks at a recent Rotary Club of Fallbrook meeting.

Their subjects varied but all had to include the Rotary 4-Way Test: Is it the truth? Is it fair to all concerned? Will it build good will and better friendships? Will it be beneficial to all concerned?

The first place winners – sophomore Wade Colburn, senior Bay Ewald, junior Mel Grajek and sophomore Josh Metzler – were individually introduced by Speech Club advisor Lutz Zastrow, a social studies teacher at the high school.

The event was put together and handled by Rotary Club Youth Services Director Dick Goodlake.

The 4-Way Test Speech Contest is an annual event rotating between the Rotary Club of Fallbrook and the Fallbrook Village Rotary Club.
