Message to ex-board member

Mr. Jim Hutcherson, it is your move.

Recently, the FUHSD Board of Trustees allowed you to accept (100 percent paid) medical insurance for which the Fallbrook High School District pays approximately $14,000 a year. This coverage was extended to you to age 65 due to a technicality entered into the Fallbrook High School Board By-Laws whereby you are the sole benefactor of this coverage.

On March 10 the Board of Trustees for the Fallbrook Union High School District voted 4-1, with Mr. Lynn Colburn opposing, not only to discontinue medical benefits for all school board members but also to discontinue the monthly paid stipend for those serving on the high school board.

Mr. Hutcherson, the right thing to do, because you are also an educator in the Bonsall School District and already have medical coverage provided by that district, is to relinquish this medical coverage and save the Fallbrook Union High School District $14,000 per year.

It is your move, Mr. Hutcherson; will you do what needs to be done?

Carolyn Major
