Soroptimist offering two scholarships

Soroptimist International of Fallbrook is offering scholarships to graduating seniors pursuing a higher education. The student must reside in the greater Fallbrook area, which includes Bonsall, Rainbow, De Luz and Pala.

The first is a $1,000 Junior College Scholarship which will be awarded to a student who will attend a local junior college and is intended to cover educational expenses during their first year at school. Recipient must carry a minimum of 12 units to qualify. The payment is $500 per semester.

The second scholarship is a $1,000 Vocational Scholarship which will be awarded to a student who will be pursuing education at a trade school or by taking trade-related courses at a community college. Auto mechanics, culinary arts, cosmetology and medical assisting are examples of studies that would qualify.

Applications are available at the career counseling centers at Fallbrook High School, Ivy High School and Oasis High School and online at http://www.fallbrookhs.org.

Completed applications and transcripts must be received by April 15.
