Fallbrook Beautification Awards to be given

FALLBROOK — The Fallbrook Beautification Alliance (FBA) has announced they will launch the first Community Beautification Award program.

The program is designed to recognize the efforts of residents, nonprofit agencies and businesses that contribute to community pride through continued property maintenance, façade renovation, landscaping improvements or any project that enhances the appearance of their properties.

Awards will be given in June in the following categories: Residential, Multi-Family Development, Commercial and Non-Profit Agencies.

Recognition will be given to those who go “above and beyond” in renovating and maintaining their investments.

To be eligible, projects must be located in the Fallbrook (92028) area and visually or physically accessible to the general public. Private residences are judged on the street-facing projects only. Properties may be nominated for the annual award as often as warranted but cannot be selected as winners within two years of the last win.

Nominations are submitted in the spring. The awards committee will make a list of the top three entries in each category for the panel of volunteer judges which selects the winners.

No member of the FBA executive board, advisory board or panel of judges will be eligible.

Projects may include landscaping and planting, neighborhood conservation, historic preservation, litter and graffiti reduction, commercial district enhancements, innovative and sustainable landscaping, architectural design, citizens’ initiatives to beautify the public realm, open space, park and plaza enhancements and public art.

The award will be a plaque and recognition in local media. This award will be given out only when a project truly warrants some recognition and is the sole decision of the volunteer judges.

In addition, the FBA will continue recognizing individuals or businesses in the village with a “We Appreciate Your Beautification Efforts” letter to let people know their efforts are appreciated.

The public is encouraged to nominate property (theirs or a neighbor’s) for consideration.

Deadline for nominations is May 31. Send them to Anne Ondraka, Fallbrook Beautification Alliance, PO Box 434, Fallbrook, CA 92088.
