The North County CERT (Community Emergency Response Team) logo states, “If the disaster doesn’t get you – we will!”
They’re ready and everyone else can be, too.
As locals saw in the recent fire, preparedness is critical for survival. NC CERT is currently holding training classes, free of charge, for members of the public.
Training is taught on fire suppression, disaster trauma signs and terrorism thinking as well as other vital information, along with essential disaster preparation for individuals, their families and the community.
James Beebe of North County Fire is the primary instructor; other experts are brought in for specific classes.
The classes are held at Living Waters Church at 2000 Reche Road in Fallbrook. They will take place Tuesdays from 6 to 8:30 p.m. for 11 weeks, followed by the “final,” a drill of hands-on use of what’s been taught.
Breaks and refreshments are provided at the classes.
People who miss classes can make them up and still graduate and be sworn in as Disaster Service Workers under the auspices of national, state and county Office of Emergency Services and FEMA, among other agencies.
