'Nature's Pencils' benefit Save Our Forest

Marie Kinnaman, owner of At Home on Main Street in Fallbrook, likes to help Fallbrook’s Save Our Forest (SOF) in unique ways.

During the 2006 holiday season, she sold hand-painted tree ornaments, the proceeds of which went to SOF.

Now, Kinnaman has come up with an even more ecologically unique item to sell for the benefit of SOF: pencils.

Hand-made and labeled in Scotland, each of five pencils in a set is rough-hewn from a stem from one of three varieties of trees – conifers, deciduous and decorative – from temperate zones around the world.

Kinnaman is selling the pencil sets for $20, with the proceeds going toward SOF tree maintenance projects which include downtown trees.

The shop is located at 136 North Main Avenue.
