It was great to visit my hometown

Friday, March 14, was a great day at the Village Square. I want to thank the Art Center of Fallbrook for providing a place to display my book. Guy Herald was very helpful in providing a spot to sign books. Fallbrook certainly has some very nice and helpful individuals.

Friday evening Mr. Parkinson invited us to make a presentation and have dinner at the VFW. I was able to visit with some World War II veterans. The club served corned beef and cabbage – probably the best I had ever eaten.

Sunday, I went back out to Rainbow Valley to revisit my grandfather’s old homestead. After introducing myself to current owner Mr. Williamson, he invited us to his home. I brought the Williamsons up to date on the property they now own and the many stories written about it.

That afternoon, I held a signing at the Fallbrook Historical Society. We had a good turnout and I met a number of people I had not seen since my childhood. I thank Judy Gillespie for making the arrangements and making sure that the announcement was in the Village News.

Following the book signing, we rushed to the Grange in Rainbow to have dinner with the chapter. It was great because it brought back memories from 1940, when the Grange was starting to be formed and box socials and dances took place in that old one-room schoolhouse.

I have returned home but Fallbrook will always be my birthplace and hometown.
