It's time FPUD modernized

Responding to FPUD’s latest “Pipeline, Thanks,” all water districts are required to maintain emergency generators at standby to be used immediately for protection against water pump station power failures.

Modern water pump stations are provided with permanently installed emergency generators which are instantly activated when power failures occur, thereby preventing all critical water shortages.

My job, at one time, was operational verification/approval of all San Diego City’s new pump stations prior to final contractor payment. It’s time FPUD modernized instead of wasting money on useless projects.

“HR 29, the Santa Margarita Project,” was introduced on “January 4, 2007.” Under Section 2, “Authorizing for Construction of Santa Margarita River Project – Conditions – The Secretary may construct the Project only after the Secretary determines the following conditions have occurred: (2) The officer or agency of the State of California authorized by law to grant permits for the appropriation of water has granted such permits to the Bureau of Reclamation for the benefit of the Department of the Navy and the District as permittees for rights to use of water for storage and diversion as provided in this Act, including approval of all requisite changes in points of diversion and storage and purposes and places of use.”

The above quotes are taken directly from HR 29. The estimated cost (ratepayers’ debt) in HR 29 is $60 million.

Does Fallbrook have no other inquisitive minds? Why pass a Federal Bill when State approval is first required? This is dumb, misleading and sucker bait.
