Celebrate Hispano-Mexican era through music

FALLBROOK — Fallbrook Music Society is pleased to present Coro Hispano de San Francisco during its 2007-2008 Symphony Season.

This unique program is part of “American Masterpieces: California,” a statewide initiative that focuses on themes deeply rooted in the Golden State and presents festive music celebrating the historical and sacred repertoire from California’s Hispano-Mexican era, the 80-year period preceding California statehood.

Coro’s music will draw listeners off the beaten path of standard repertoire with seldom-heard music, the familiar sound of 18th century classicism combined with Spanish flair.

The Fallbrook performance will consist of 39 singers with an authenticity of sound that is a defining hallmark of Coro’s arrangements.

Coro Hispano is a chorus and instrumental ensemble of members of the Spanish-speaking communities of the San Francisco Bay Area dedicated to exploring and performing the choral literature brought to California from Mexico City and Spain to be taught to the choirs organized at the missions.

The concert will take place on Sunday, April 13, at 7:30 p.m. in the Bob Burton Center for the Performing Arts, 2400 South Stage Coach Lane. Tickets can be purchased by calling (760) 451-8644 or visiting http://www.fallbrookmusicsociety.org.
