Community-wide single women's Bible study offered

“Living Your Life as a Beautiful Offering” by Angela Thomas is the material that will be used for a seven-week community-wide single women’s Bible study hosted by Christ The King Lutheran Church in Fallbrook. The 90-minute study will begin on Wednesday, April 9, at 7 p.m. in the Fireside Room and will be led by Sue Johnson, who is a single woman and mother of two. Johnson is active in the community and is an employee of the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce.

She is also well-known as the monthly emcee for the Fallbrook Student of the Month award breakfast. Johnson has an upbeat and positive personality and the women will be inspired by the study as led by this capable woman.

“The study is funny and entertaining, but the message comes through,” she said. “The thing that really impressed me is that [Thomas] tells it like it is and how it can be. She’s been through it.”

The study will also include a time of prayer and sharing. “This will be a time of feeding for single women,” Johnson noted. She also mentioned that the study has been on her heart for about four years and she feels there is a real need in the community for it.

According to the Web site http://www.angelathomas.com, the author’s goal is to inspire single moms to rise above their circumstances and live strong, amazing lives. She shares her stories about raising four children without a husband, paycheck or home of her own. Thomas was a Methodist minister, wife and mother when her marriage ended.

She felt that she could no longer be “Super Mom” or a leader in the Christian community without a man by her side. But thanks to the love and help of her friends and family, Thomas realized she was mistaken. Through the challenges that accompany single motherhood, Thomas learned how to draw on her inner strength and become closer in her relationship with God.

“There are women who are single by choice and who are single by divorce and those still seeking mates,” she mentioned. “We all come from different circumstances and all single women need to take their Bibles and hang out with Jesus.”

Johnson has done just that and has seen the Lord work in her life in “amazing ways.” “I am in a place many of these women are in right now and I know how hungry I am for God’s answers,” she said. “God has shown me many times how awesome He truly is and I want to bring that truth by way of Angela Thomas to all single women in Fallbrook, Bonsall and the surrounding communities.”

At this point the issue of childcare is still being worked out. There will be a charge for the study materials; however, scholarships are available.
