'Killer Bs' swarm JV softball field

FALLBROOK — Brianna Stofflet, Brittany Doherty, Brittany Mahr and Brooke Heuttl carry the nickname “Killer Bs.” These girls move in unison, covering the outfield with dynamism. They approach each play like a swarm, backing each other up as needed and shifting around the field to protect their turf. The whole team agrees these girls have a lot of fight in them and they will never give up.

Stofflet is a freshman, playing her first season as a Warrior. Her teammates say she is a machine on the field, always giving her best, and off the field she is a true friend.

“[Stofflet] really knows this game and she plays it with her heart,” says Mahr, also a freshman.

Mahr is known as the quiet one in the bunch and always has her head in the game. Her teammates know they can count on her dedication on the field as well as her fun-loving spirit and great sense of humor.

“[Mahr] is very dedicated to softball. She always stays in the play to the very end,” says fellow Warrior Lindsey Wactler.

Doherty and Heuttl are sophomores, both playing as Warriors for the first time this season.

Doherty is the peppy, humorous player who brings the girls’ spirits up in any situation. She is known as a character who has the best interest of the team on her mind at all times.

“[Doherty] is so much fun to be around and I enjoy being on the same team as her,” Amanda Costa says, speaking highly of her friend.

Heuttl is a fierce competitor. Her teammates admire her ability to encourage others and her strength of character. They all agree she is improving by leaps and bounds this season and cannot wait to see what tomorrow brings for her.

“Brooke is Brooke and no one can change that. I admire her for it,” says Stofflet. “Her skills are getting better every day.”

These girls work hard and try their best at practice and in games. Each girl has a very different approach to the game.

Coaches Padilla and Reynoso speak of them each in high regards: “[Stofflet] is our very serious player, [Doherty] is incredibly funny, [Mahr] is quiet and focused and [Heuttl] is always giving 100 percent. These girls are fast and hardworking, collectively making a strong defensive team.”

As things continue moving in this direction, these girls will dominate the field in no time.
