Cat goes to groomer

FALLBROOK — Anzy McWha, who portrays the Cat in the Hat in the production of “Seussical the Musical,” recently cut off her “tail” to donate to Locks of Love… her ponytail, that is.

“I have been waiting a while to be able to do this,” said Anzy recently. “Most directors don’t want you to cut your hair after you have been cast in a role, but our director, Mrs. Baird, said I could go for it.”

Locks of Love is a public nonprofit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss.

Most of the children helped by Locks of Love have lost their hair due to a medical condition called alopecia areata, which has no known cause or cure.

“It feels great to be able to do something for someone else,” added Anzy.

“Besides,” she laughed, “my mom told a bunch of us kids a while back that she would color her hair purple every time one of us donated to Locks of Love. Now, she gets to pay up.”
