Zion honored with award from Sheriff

FALLBROOK- As a result of Firestorm 2007, Zion Lutheran Church and School in Fallbrook opened its doors to the men and women of both the fire service and the California National Guard. Zion was later selected to receive a ‘Sheriff’s Civilian Commendation’ based on a letter of commendation submitted by Lt. Derek E. Clark, During San Diego County Sheriff Department’s annual Award Ceremony held on April 1, 2008, Zion’s letter of recommendation was read describing their efforts during the Rice fire. Pastor Mark Demel was then introduced and he accepted the Civilian Commendation award from Sheriff Bill Kolender.
