Fallbrook’s Avocado Festival is not the only exciting event going on in town; all year ’round the village is buzzing with various festivals and events, several of which are mentioned in this article.

Fallbrook is a town that is easy to find with lots of free parking and shade from the trees that line Main Avenue.

‘Reflections of Nature’

Wildlife Art Show

Location: Fallbrook Art Center

Dates: May 3-4

A national level wildlife art show featuring works by 30 artists from across the nation, sculptures in bronze, stone, wood and steel, paintings in oil, acrylic, a variety of water media, scratchboard plus prints. Fallbrook Vintage Car Show

Location: Potter Junior High School, 1743 Reche Road

Date: May 25

A car show with approximately 300 vehicles. Registration deadline May 17. The show is held rain or shine. Note the location; previous shows were held at Fallbrook High School. Gates open at 6:30 a.m .; all vehicles must be on the field by 10 a.m. For more information, call (760) 723-2818.

Hot Summer Nights

Location: Downtown on Main

The tantalizing scents of cotton candy, pizza and coffee deliciously entwine on Main Avenue on various Fridays during Hot Summer Nights.

Each night is a different theme. Family Night is in June. You can find $1 fluffs of cotton candy and personal pizzas for $2. It is a happy atmosphere where squealing children glide down a colorful slide and hop around in a “bounce house.” Fallbrook FFA and 4-H members allow children to pet their sheep and a line of classic cars provides an interesting interlude.

Fallbrook’s Connections Networking Group is again sponsoring the summer series of block parties.

Fourth of July

at the Grand Tradition

Location: 1602 South Mission

As in the past, the Fallbrook Beautification Alliance has organized a fun-filled Fourth of July celebration in Fallbrook at the Grand Tradition with kids’ games, races, concerts, hot dogs, hamburgers and even a silent auction. Last year, Rita Coolidge sang the National Anthem.

The celebration culminates with a stunning fireworks display at 8:45 p.m.

Symphony “Pops”

Each August the Fallbrook Music Society presents this outdoor summer concert on the lovely manicured grounds of the Grand Tradition.

The featured music is usually a mixture of American pops and light classical.

Fallbrook Open Studio

Art Tour

Location: Greater Fallbrook area

Dates: October 11-12

An insider’s look at the art and artists of Fallbrook. Come and visit artists in their home studios and see them at work while enjoying refreshments with them. Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase original works of art.

Fallbrook Christmas Parade

Location: Main Avenue

Date: December 6

An event for the entire family, this evening parade is held each year at the beginning of December. The more than 100 entries are all delightful, ranging from the small to the very elaborate.

The annual Fallbrook Christmas Parade is an excellent example of how many organizations Fallbrook has to offer for all ages. It is worth a couple of cold hands to see the unique and varied entries, which include several shiny fire engines complete with high-spirited cheerleaders. You will even find a large church bus draped with Christmas lights.

The Marines from Camp Pendleton are always a Christmas Parade fixture; it brings a tear to the eye to see them marching down Main Avenue in their crisp and gleaming uniforms.

The event, sponsored by the Fallbrook Chamber of Commerce, drew about 150 entries last year that contained a total of 3,200 participants. Authorities say an average of 17,000 people have lined the streets each year for the past four years to view the parade. Attendance is expected to be the same this year.
