FALLBROOK — Angel Society members Marnie Mifflin and Veryl Mitchell recently presented a $700 check to Fallbrook Garden Club members to be used toward the gardening program at La Paloma Elementary School.
Twenty Garden Club volunteers provide up to 700 hours per year of support for this effort.
The funds will be used to help expand irrigation in the greenhouse area and build raised beds and steps/walkways to the greenhouse.
This project is open to all students on campus as an after-school activity.
This month the Angel Society focused on programs benefiting children in the following ways:
• Ivy High School’s volunteer organic gardening project was given $1,000 to help expand the program to every Fallbrook school this year.
• MAAC Project Head Start received $500 for additional equipment and educational toys.
• St. Stephen Lutheran School received $500 to aid their computer program.
• San Onofre School received $500 for two educational field trips for fourth-graders.
• Fallbrook High School gymnastics team received $500 to replace 15-year-old equipment.
• Little Angels Learning Center, under auspices of Saint Clare’s Homes, was given $1,000 to purchase equipment and supplies.
• Armed Services YMCA at Camp Pendleton’s Project Liberty Call, serving junior enlisted service members, was awarded $1,000 to help provide gas cards for critical medical appointments and unexpected expenses.
Funds to support Angel philanthropy are generated by sales at the Angel Shop at 1002 South Main Avenue; hours are 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
