Art event April 27 at Live Oak Park

FALLBROOK — Live Oak Park will come alive with art, crafts, music and dance on Sunday, April 27, at the annual Arts in the Park festival sponsored by Rally for Children. The festival takes place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. and is free to members of the community.

Because of the generous support of community groups who have volunteered their time and talent, Rally will once again be able to provide a large variety of activities for children to explore the arts. Community groups have signed up to present a variety of fun, colorful activities.

Some of the fun activities planned for this year include planting pots, face painting and making bird feeders, windsocks, pencil pinwheels, backpack buddies and the ever-popular walking sticks.

Youngren Construction will let children decorate hard hats, Rober Olds will demonstrate the art of pot making, Connie Tognoli will bring her mini-doll friends and the Museum of Making Music will provide instruments so budding musicians can test their skills.

Children can work with wood, clay, Playdough and various painting activities. John Chambers will present his world famous puppet show, while the Mad Science group will present an amazing interactive show featuring special effects, fantastic forces, bubbling potions and more.

Musical performers will provide dulcimer magic and cowboy banjo favorites with food booths selling hamburgers, hot dogs and pizza. Altogether, there will be over 100 volunteers and more than 35 acts and venues providing a full day of arts in the park.

This is the first time schools from Camp Pendleton military base will be attending the event. The Fallbrook School District PTA will provide the crafts.

Parking will be free at Potter Jr. High, Live Oak School and Maie Ellis School with continuous all-day shuttles to the park. Attendees are asked to carpool as much as possible.

Donations from community members and organizations help underwrite the cost of supplies, artist fees, puppeteers and hands-on musical instruments. Any excess monies will be used to fund enrichment programs for children in the Fallbrook/Bonsall area.
