Hair Drama brings style trends to Fallbrook

Hair Drama has been turning heads locally since its official arrival to Fallbrook last September. Its ambience is sleek and trendy, offering patrons a touch of comfortable elegance.

Tony Arrieta, the owner of Hair Drama, has been in the industry for nearly 30 years. Prior to opening his salon here, this veteran stylist was commuting up the coast to Newport Beach.

After living in Fallbrook for 10 years, Arrieta was driven to open his own hair salon in the Friendly Village. With that goal in mind, his personal vision of what he wanted to accomplish followed.

“I had ideas,” said Arrieta. “I wanted to work with young hairdressers and wanted them to be educated in the industry.”

Arrieta noticed that continuing education was not very common for some hairstylists in the area. Some, he said, were not taking classes or attending hair shows.

“I started a salon here because I saw that there was a big need for it,” he said.

By offering continuing education to his stylists, the salon’s clientele would greatly benefit. Patrons would have the opportunity to receive cutting-edge techniques in color, style and cuts.

“When I worked in Orange County, it was mandatory to keep up on [your] education just to maintain a business,” he explained.

Arrieta has taken this “schooling” philosophy successfully into his Fallbrook salon.

At Hair Drama, there are six talented stylists with a willingness to learn. Many of them are younger in age.

“This is a young person’s industry because it takes a lot of energy and a lot of creativity,” said Arrieta. “And people are really drawn to the younger generation.”

Arrieta enjoys being a mentor and is thrilled to be helping young hairdressers who take their profession seriously and want to expand their careers.

In order to work at Hair Drama, Arrieta looks for these special qualities: style, talent, honesty and the ability to work well with others.

“[Stylists] also must have a comfort zone within themselves,” he said.

In addition to the professional growth of his stylists, Arrieta keenly detected certain needs in Fallbrook.

He says he discovered that a number of people had been going out of town to get their hair done. “People left the area because they wanted newer, hairstyles; my goal is to now bring these people back to Fallbrook.”

Hair Drama has a mission: listen to the customer and make them the number one priority.

They offer people a new style that fits their look and their everyday life. But most of all, they listen to their customers’ wants and needs.

Aside from hair fashion, Hair Drama also offers a menu of skin care and massage choices.

Arrieta said Karen Choules, owner of Simplify Your Life Day Spa in Bonsall, has a satellite business at Hair Drama. This satellite office offers the same sterling service as their Bonsall location.

Although Hair Drama is a trendy salon, it still has that small town friendly appeal where people come in and visit.

“Almost every day, we have someone pop in and say, ‘Hi,’” said Arrieta. “I really like that Fallbrook community feeling.”

Hair Drama is located at 123 East Hawthorne and walk-ins are always welcome. To schedule a consultation or appointment, reach Hair Drama by dialing (760) 451-1373.
