Warrior softball players a triple treat

FALLBROOK — Carla Mercado, Daniela Iniguez and Danielle Clark are this week’s featured players for the Fallbrook High softball program.

These girls all possess a soft exterior, but what is hidden just beneath the surface is fire. Each one lights up the field with her spectacular ability.

Carla is a sophomore, playing softball for the first time this season. Her teammates see she has true potential and enjoy her positive attitude on and off the field.

“I am so proud of her,” says Daniela. “I think she is very brave because this is her first year ever playing softball, and she is right there on the field with the rest of us, doing her job.”

Daniela is also a sophomore, playing for a second season as a Lady Warrior. Her teammates agree she is funny, energetic and a positive influence on the team.

She comes to each practice like it is a game and to each game like it is the most important game of the season.

“Daniela puts a smile on everyone’s face,” says Danielle. “She loves to play softball and to have fun at the same time. Everyone should have a player like Daniela on their team.”

Danielle is a returning sophomore on the Warriors’ JV softball team. Her teammates say she is a strong player and has a lot of heart. Coming back after an injury has made her a star in the eyes of her teammates.

“Danielle is my hero,” says fellow sophomore Sarah Nakamoto. “She is one tough cookie.”

Coaches Padilla and Reynoso agree these players are reminiscent of “Charlie’s Angels.” They have a soft, kind demeanor and are viewed as “girly girls” off the field, but when you add in a little yellow softball, they become aggressive competitors, determined to win.
